Ken Soda

Dr. Soda is a former Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering of the United States Air Force Academy, where he served for nearly eighteen years.  There he was instrumental in the development of a student design capability in Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) Circuits, including manufacture of student ICs through the MOSIS program.  He was also responsible for the application of the OrCAD/Cadence PSPICE circuit simulation and printed circuit design program in several courses in Electronics and to Senior Design. Dr. Soda was acknowledged for his many improvements to the electronics curriculum, to the hardware electronics laboratory, for the integration of Engineering Ethics as a component of classroom instruction, and as a key contributor to the creation and operation of the Academy’s Systems Engineering Major.  Outside of academia, Dr. Soda held engineering and engineering management positions at four different Department of Defense (DoD) research facilities where he executed and directed basic and advanced research on semiconductor materials and materials processing, compound semiconductor devices, the effects of ionizing radiation on electronic devices and both contributed to and directed the development of demonstration and operational Application Specific Integrated Circuits.  Dr. Soda also served as the on-site DoD representative at SEMATECH, the US National Consortium on Microelectronic Manufacturing Productivity where he facilitated the industry-wide practice of selling integrated circuits in unpackaged form.
