Mark Manduca has a B.S. in music education from the University of Maine and a M.M. in trombone performance from Boston University. His teachers include Gregg Magnusson, Fred Heath, Ron Barron, Norman Bolter, Dave Steinmeyer, and Phil Wilson. He is a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Brass, the Portland Opera Repertory Orchestra, the Portland Jazz Orchestra, as well as the leader of 5 Cylinder Jazz. His performance credits include engagements with Clark Terry, Johnny Mathis, Bob Hope, Guy Lombardo, Anne Murray, Barry Manilow, New York Voices, and the touring production of “A Chorus Line”. He was an original member of the Maine Bones.
A veteran teacher, Mark has, since 2000, been the music director of Old Orchard Beach High School, and has been on the USM music faculty since 1984. He has taught at Bates College, Bowdoin College, the University of Maine at Augusta, and Falmouth Junior and Senior High Schools. He is also the co-owner and senior editor of Manduca Music Publications, based in Portland, Maine.
