Melissa McGee is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She is a Policy Associate II at the Catherine Cutler Institute, serving as the Service Integration Manager for the National Tribal Child Welfare Center for Innovation & Advancement. She also serves as a Team Adam Consultant and is a former Tribal Fellow for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Before her national work, Melissa served the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Children & Family Services as Indian Child Welfare Supervisor for more than eight years. She also contributed to state and Tribal partnerships as Secretary of the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association (2022–2024), a member of the National Indian Child Welfare Association, and a participant on the Tulsa County ICWA Court Council and McCurtain County Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Her earlier career includes 17 years with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she worked as a Child Welfare Specialist and Certified Child Sexual Abuse Specialist, and later assisted in Family Support programs such as SNAP, Child Care, and Medicaid, as well as service with Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services as a Family Focus Initiative social worker.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology, as well as a Master of Science degree in Native American Leadership, both from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
