Melody Faux is a proud alum of the University of Maine system, beginning her career in nursing with an Associate’s degree from UMA in 2001. Upon graduation, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse in two community hospitals, and later as a Public Health Nurse for the State of Maine. In 2007, Dr. Faux earned her Master’s degree, completing the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program at the University of Southern Maine. For the next eight years, she practiced as an FNP in pediatrics and family medicine. Since 2015, Dr.Faux has worked clinically in the college health setting at Bowdoin College and the University of New England. In 2016 she discovered her passion for teaching nursing with Purdue University Global and Simmons College. It is her experiences in primary care and the college setting that influences her research interest in eating disorders, selecting to screen male athletes for eating disorders as her clinical practice project for her doctoral degree, completed in December of 2019.
SedDr. Faux is delighted to be teaching in her alma mater’s program and sharing her clinical expertise with future nurse practitioner students.
