I received my undergraduate degree in Plant Sciences at CWU, my MS (and Ph.D. ABD) in Interdisciplinary Ecology at UF, and my Ph.D. in Human/Environmental Geography from UNAM. My research focuses on indigenous rights, common pool resource management, climate change mitigation, with an emphasis on forest management. I use novel approaches to multivariate analysis looking at higher order variance and simplification of models. I have experience teaching an array of courses from Spanish and Biology, to Wildlife Conservation, Research Methods, and Human Geography. I have been working in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve since 2015 and will also be working with mangroves in Guatemala.
