Research Interests
Dr. Gentles-Gibbs has 2 primary areas of interest for research. She is passionate about child welfare reform, and has conducted research on family empowerment, perspectives on systemic readiness for change and child welfare organizational culture. She is also interested in transnational social work practice and social work with migrant populations. Dr. Gentles-Gibbs values community-engaged research.
Dr. Gentles-Gibbs has over 10 years’ experience working with children and families, both in the U.S. and internationally. She has wide-ranging experience in school guidance and counseling, therapeutic foster care, program management and agency administration. Dr. Gentles-Gibbs also has several years’ experience in higher education, including serving as adjunct faculty, teaching Introduction to Social Work, and 4 years as the full-time Field Education Coordinator at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
