Dr. Ryan Noe joined the Artist Faculty of University of Southern Maine in fall 2021. He is an active freelancer throughout New England and currently he holds the position of Principal Trumpet for the Glens Falls Symphony as well as Third Trumpet with the Cape Ann Symphony. As a chamber musician, Dr. Noe is a member of the Andromeda Quintet and the Fenway Quintet and has also performed with the Boston University Faculty Brass Quintet, the Bay View Brass, Bala Brass, and the Western Brass Quintet. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with groups such as the Boston Pops, Portland Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, Cape Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, New Bedford Symphony, Lexington Symphony, Orchestra of Indian Hill, Alea III: Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the Commonwealth Lyric Theater. He can be heard on the soundtrack to the popular Japanese crime show Iryu Sousa as well as the upcoming album Resurrection with the Marsh Chapel Collegium. He has worked with renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Gunther Schuller, Rafael Payare, and Keith Lockhart. As a soloist, he has soloed in front of the Glens Falls Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, Cape Ann Symphony, Plymouth Community Band, and Ohio Light Opera Orchestra. Along with his quintet, Andromeda Quintet, he has presented at the International Women’s Brass Conference and for College Music Society.
Dr. Noe’s primary instructors include Terry Everson, Scott Thornburg, Thomas Siders, Peter Chapman, and William Lucas. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 2009 to pursue his Master of Music degree from Boston University. He continued at BU and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in 2015. Prior to moving to Boston, Dr. Noe lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he completed his Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and Music Education at Western Michigan University. Along with his teaching at USM, he is also Associate Lecturer of Trumpet for University of Massachusetts Boston, Adjunct Professor of Trumpet for Northeastern University, Adjunct Professor of Brass for Northern Essex Community College, and previously taught at Boston University and Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Dr. Noe is originally from Plymouth, Michigan and currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife, son, and 2 cats.
