Sam Kyzivat is excited to support the Osher School of Music’s vibrant community and diverse programming as Director of Operations. He brings a wide range of experience in arts admin, concert production, and A/V operations from years supporting southern Maine’s dynamic classical music scene. Prior to joining the OSoM staff, Sam served as Director of Operations & Production for the Portland Chamber Music Festival for over five years, seeing the organization through six successful summer seasons. He has also served as Music Librarian/Orchestra Manager and Foundation Relations Associate for the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Administrative Assistant & Composer for the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra. Sam has been heard on Maine Public Classical’s Maine Stage program numerous times over the years, producing and hosting programs for the aforementioned organizations.

Sam is also an active media composer, and since 2018 has scored dozens of short documentary films. His music has been heard in films for Atlas Obscura, Education Week, the Maine Aquaculture Association, and the Points North Institute; been played at the Camden International Film Festival and Maine Outdoor Film Festival; and been selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. An avid synthesist, Sam served as Director of Bowdoin College’s Electronic Music Ensemble during the 2023-2024 academic year, leading a group of students in improvised, experimental, electronic music using the open-source software VCV Rack. 

Sam holds a B.A. in Music (Theory & Composition) and Asian Studies from Bowdoin College.
