Seth joined the full-time faculty at USM in 2018. He earned his M.S. in Chemistry from Montana State University (Mountains and Minds!) in 2008, where he was also an adjunct instructor and general chemistry lab coordinator before returning to Maine. He then went on to teach high school chemistry in Maine for 10 years, working as a tutor and part time instructor at the University of New England and USM during that time. Seth primarily teaches first year chemistry lectures and labs, and coordinates the first year lab program.

Seth’s focus is on chemical education. By incorporating the Learning Assistant program into his courses, Seth focuses on active learning and problem solving as an integral part of his courses.  Currently, Seth also acts as the faculty advisor for the USM Chemistry Club, engaging in various public outreach activities.
