Sharon E. Ross is an adjunct instructor of Professional Writing and College Writing courses for the University of Maine System. She has been teaching writing and communications at Maine’s Community College and University campuses for about ten years and has been a professional writer for more than twenty. Her classes often include self-directed projects and opportunities for community and civic engagement that provide students will real-world experiences. She has taught courses in English Composition, literature, interpersonal communications, grant writing, technical writing, and group process. As an undergraduate and graduate student, she worked full-time to pay tuition while earning her degrees. She is a native Californian and has bylines in Portland Press Herald’s Raising Maine, The San Bernardino Sun, Mountain News, Pacific Review, and Lake Effect.
