Shawn Hunt

Shawn joined the staff of USM Foundation in December 2022 after seven years as the Operations Manager at Defend Our Health, where he was a key member of the fund development team and led the organization’s events. Prior to joining the Defend staff, Shawn was the Manager of Administration at the leadership development organization Lift 360. He concurrently worked with the development team at the historic preservation organization Greater Portland Landmarks.

Shawn is originally from Maryland and earned a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Richmond in Virginia. After college, Shawn joined the US Peace Corps where he taught English as a Foreign Language to students in grades 9-12. After traveling extensively post-Peace Corps, Shawn settled in the Washington, DC area, where he worked in newspaper production at The Chronicle of Higher Education and its partner publication, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, before moving to Maine in 2008. Shawn loves exploring Maine and can be found often at the pool training for swim meets or open water races.
