Susan Waller is an historian of nineteenth century European art.  She earned her BA from Brown University, her MA from Boston University, and her PhD at Northwestern University.  Previously, she was on the faculty of the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the University of Kentucky, Lexington.  Prior to completing the PhD, she was Curator at the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Director of The Baxter Gallery, Maine College of Art, Portland, Maine. Her research focuses on the history of women artists in the modern era and the social history of artists and models in Paris in the nineteenth century.
