Now under construction on USM’s Portland campus, the 43,000 square foot Crewe Center for the Arts is a sustainably designed performing and visual arts facility that will be a hub of community arts and culture in southern Maine.

As the new home of the Dr. Alfred and D. Suzi Osher School of Music, the Center will include accessible, state-of-the-art spaces and equipment that meet the learning and performance needs of our music students and faculty, as well as serving arts and cultural organizations in our region. In addition to classroom, rehearsal, and practice spaces, the Center will also feature a performance hall, art gallery, visual arts studio, sculpture garden, and outdoor performance spaces.

On track to open in fall 2025, the Crewe Center will be the crown jewel of the University’s newly redeveloped Portland campus, ushering in a new era of sight and sound at USM.

“It’s really important that this building is being funded at a public university. . .a place where there are many first-generation college students. This is an unheard-of arts facility in Maine.”

–Corey Hascall ’99, President & CEO, USM Foundation

The Crewe Legacy

The Crewe Center name honors music legend, Bob Crewe, the songwriter behind many of the Four Seasons’ biggest hits, and his brother and manager, Daniel Crewe, arts champion and Maine philanthropist. A $6 million gift from the Crewe Foundation helped launch the Crewe Center project.

Support the Crewe Center for the Arts Campaign

To date, with the help of friends, alumni, and community partners, we’ve raised more than $20 million to support the Crewe Center building project. Looking ahead, our goal is to raise $5.9 million to complete “The Crewe” and begin a new era of sight and sound at USM in 2025.
