Jackie Crow Shoe, enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Policy Associate at the University of Southern Maine’s Catherine Cutler Institute, connects with child welfare experts across Indian Country to address the importance of building tribal child welfare programs that are reflective of their community values and culture – reclaiming the narrative from a dominant system to one that reflects Indigenous worldviews and emphasizes responsibilities to children – in the new podcast series “Reclaiming the Child Welfare Narrative” from the Capacity Building Center for Tribes. The series highlights the intersection of tribal child welfare with topics such as indigenous language, culture, the tribal justice system, and peacekeeping circles.
The Center’s podcast series is available on all major podcast platforms, such as Google, iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Castbox, or SoundCloud, and episodes are also on the Center’s website, the Tribal Information Exchange.
A second season of the podcast is currently in production.
