Together with the Amjambo newspaper, the USM Department of Linguistics has launched a new column on language. The purpose of the column is to encourage an interest in language learning and linguistics. The column will look at how language works, with a focus on issues that relate to New Mainers and heritage speakers in our area. Will explore everything from how bilingualism works to fun facts about different languages spoken in the Amjambo reader community. The first column, by Prof. Dana McDaniel, just came out. It is called “Why all languages are similar.“
