Nathaniel Meyer’s solo exhibition, entitled Eternal Return, will be up at Elizabeth Moss Galleries in Falmouth, Maine, May 26 – July 1. Opening reception is Friday, May 26 from 5:00-7:00 PM, Elizabeth Moss Galleries, 251 Route 1, Falmouth, ME.
Nathaniel Meyer paints lush, verdant worlds depicting the heroic and poetic aspects of the coast of Maine. They are an amalgam of recollected memory, nostalgia, direct observation, art historical research, and pure invention.
The painting on the right, Little Sugarpear Island II, borrows heavily from “Little Island” by AJ Casson (one of the Group of Seven). It also refers to Little Sugarpear Island, where Meyer’s family has a camp, and is one of his favorite spots on earth. This painting is an amalgam of two of his very favorite things.
