School of Social Work Fundraiser Highlights the Importance of Professional Well-Being in Social Work

The School of Social Work at the University of Southern Maine hosted a successful fundraiser event on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The event, titled Professional Well-Being in Social Work: Taking Care of Ourselves to Care for Others aimed to raise funds for the School of Social Work Annual Fund which finances scholarships and student initiatives throughout the academic year.

With a focus on self-care and well-being the event provided an opportunity for alumni, practitioners, students, faculty, and community members to come together for a collective cause.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating panel discussion of distinguished practitioners. They shared their personal experiences and insights on the importance of self-care in the demanding field of social work. The event also featured a raffle of self-care items donated by local Portland businesses, and we are so grateful for the generosity of our small business partners.

If you missed the event and would still like to contribute to funding student opportunities within the School of Social Work you can make a gift here.
