The University of Southern Maine (USM) Foundation has announced Corey Hascall, a 1999 USM graduate, as its new President and CEO. Hascall, who has served as interim President since September 2024 and was Vice President for five years, assumes the role immediately.
“Corey’s deep connection to USM, extensive leadership experience, and bold vision for the future make her the ideal leader for the Foundation,” said Steve deCastro, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “She has a passion for supporting students and enhancing USM’s impact across Maine. We are excited for her leadership as we continue to build momentum.”
Hascall has been instrumental in transformative milestones for USM, including completing the University’s largest-ever philanthropic campaign and launching the McGoldrick Center for Career & Student Success.
“Corey’s exceptional leadership and her record of advancing the strategic priorities of USM make her the ideal choice to lead the Foundation,” said Dr. Jacqueline Edmondson, President of USM. “Our partnership has given me a front row seat to her talent for building connections and unwavering commitment to student success. We are thrilled to have Corey at the helm during this exciting chapter for USM.”
Under Hascall’s leadership, the Foundation plans to build on its record-breaking support for scholarships, innovative programs, and campus development, ensuring that USM students excel academically, professionally, and personally.
“I’m honored to lead during such a pivotal moment at my alma mater,” said Hascall. “USM is thriving—from the groundbreaking Promise Scholars program to the new Crewe Center for the Arts opening in 2025. Together, we’re creating incredible opportunities for our students and Maine’s future.”
Hascall’s career spans more than two decades in political strategy, communications, and fundraising. Before joining the USM Foundation in 2017, she directed state and federal campaigns and led community relations and crisis communications at top firms including POWER Engineers. She earned her mediation and alternative dispute resolution certification from USM in 2012.
Hascall is also a dedicated community leader, having served on boards including The Ecology School, the Nash Foundation, and the Maine Women’s Lobby. At The Ecology School, she co-chaired its first capital campaign and now serves as emeritus board member.
