The University of Southern Maine’s ESports Club enjoyed a tremendously successful season in the Fall semester, going deep into the playoffs in three games in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships.

Now, they’ve also got some individual awards to add to their trophy case. Six USM players recently won season honors for their excellence at their play.  The following students won regional awards for their season play:

  • Lucas Matheson, Rocket League Outstanding Player of the Season
  • Henry Burns, NBA2K Outstanding Rookie of the Season
  • Cody Plumey, Counter-Strike 2 Outstanding Rookie of the Season
  • Silas Qualls, Street Fighter 6 Outstanding Player of the Season
  • Erick Williamson, Omega Strikers Outstanding Player of the Season
  • Sebastian Drosa, Omega Strikers Outstanding Rookie of the Season

“These awards, especially since they are end-of-season awards, shows that our ESports program is being recognized as a force to be reckoned with,” ESports Club President Michael Brown said.

USM’s ESports club is gearing up for the Spring season, and teams will compete in both ECAC and New England Collegiate Conference play. Tryouts are open to any interested student and are set to be held Jan. 19-21.
