Department of Special Education Chair and Associate Professor, Sarah Wilkinson, was interviewed by WGME for a story on Teacher, staff injuries continue to rise in Maine classrooms. The story highlighted research, Maine K-12 Educator and Administrator Experiences Managing Challenging Student Behavior in Schools, conducted by Dr. Wilkinson and colleagues on behalf of the Maine Education Research Policy Institute. Their research found that Maine educators spend a considerable amount of time managing student behavior and that educators report ongoing management of student behavior has negative impacts on staff and students and many report injuries due to student behavior.
