Description
The Mondor Memorial Scholarship (“Fund”) was established at the University of Southern Maine (USM) in 2023 with memorial gifts received from family, friends and colleagues of Dean of Students, Rodney Mondor through the University of Southern Maine Foundation (USMF). Dean of Students, Rodney Mondor lost his son to an accidental overdose of fentanyl. “Always Student Focused Every Day”, the Mondor Memorial Scholarship is intended to support a University of Southern Maine student who is committed to and practicing a pathway of recovery from addiction
Eligibility
Funds shall provide scholarships of at least $1,000 each award, or as funds are available, for students enrolled as an undergraduate (taking a minimum of six credit hours) or as a graduate (taking a minimum of three credit hours), maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.25 and with demonstrated financial need.

How to Apply
Applicants must provide a personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) describing how scholarship funding will support their recovery and academic life, financial need, and how the Recovery Orientated Campus Center (ROCC) has enhanced their college experience as a student in recovery. Include details outlining active participation in the recovery community in one or more of these categories:
- Attending on/off campus support meetings and/or groups
- Active member of the ROCC (the student organization) meetings, events, and service hours (including planning and preparation for events)
- Outreach activities, including tabling, speaking on or off-campus, and other opportunities to share about the ROCC and your recovery journey.

How to Renew
Not applicable. All recipients will be required to re-apply for the scholarship prior to the priority deadline.
