Program requirements

The program provides a rigorous pre-professional education for those interested in pursuing STEM careers or graduate school. The curriculum is designed to develop your understanding of the chemistry of living organisms, the molecular mechanisms of disease, and the chemistry of evolution and its meaning for human health.

Exciting learning spaces

You’ll gain real-world experience using analytical instrumentation in our modern Biochemistry research lab. In upper-level coursework, you’ll learn to evaluate samples, interpret data, and discover how changing experimental parameters affect the output.

Put theory into practice

Opportunities for hands-on experience abound through faculty-mentored research projects, independent study in our research labs, and internships with state-based, national, and international scientific firms such as IDEXX, Maine Health Institute of Research, Abbott, Pratt and Whitney, and Sappi, among others.
