Nursing – Nursing Administration and Leadership Micro-Credential | Accelerated Online
- Micro-credential
Modes of study:
Advance your nursing career towards becoming a leader in nursing administration in just eight months by earning a micro-credential that validates your in-demand career skills to employers. You’ll also earn graduate course credits to count towards your MSN or post-master’s graduate certificate if you are pursuing one (or plan to in the future!).
What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential from the University of Maine System (UMS) is a certification of your competency in skills needed in today’s workforce. Quicker than a degree, a micro-credential focuses on knowledge and practical ability in a specific area – and demonstrates your proficiency to employers.
Our Nursing Micro-Credential Pathways are part of the University of Maine System’s (UMS) Micro-Credential Initiative. Micro-credentials are ideal for USM students and working professionals seeking opportunities to advance or increase their marketability. Micro-credentials earned through the UMS are verified, stackable, competency-based, and shareable.
What are UMS micro-credential pathways?
Each UMS micro-credential pathway comprises stackable digital badges. As you complete each level, you earn verified badges that document your progress and the competencies you have demonstrated. When you complete the full pathway, you earn a University of Maine System micro-credential that you can share across professional platforms to showcase your leadership development.
How are nursing micro-credentials structured at USM?
As you move through the Nursing Administration and Leadership Micro-Credential pathway, you will earn digital badges that mark your progress and highlight specific graduate-level leadership competencies. These badges are verified, stackable, and easy to share on LinkedIn, your résumé, or your professional portfolio. Once you complete the full pathway, you earn a University of Maine System micro-credential that shows employers you have developed leadership skills that matter in today’s healthcare environment.
