Over the past many years, Associate Professor Emerita, Rebecca Goodale, has been instrumental in the growth and development of book arts at USM, where she served as program coordinator for the Kate Cheney Chappell ’83 Center for Book Arts from it’s inception until fall 2020. With her retirement, a scholarship was established in her honor by the Center’s Advisory Board. The Rebecca Goodale Book Arts Scholarship provides annual support to a student enrolled in the visual arts, with a preference given to a declared Book Arts minor. This scholarship is a lasting tribute to Rebecca Goodale’s excellence in teaching, benefiting future generations of talented USM students.
A noted book artist, Rebecca Goodale has taught extensively about this unique art form. Her book arts courses have been used in cross curriculum studies, gaining a wider perspective for our students and the USM community.
