Please join us on Zoom!

USM Criminology invites you to a series of conversations with leading figures in and around the criminal legal system in Maine. Join us for a discussion with Tina Heather Nadeau, Criminal Defense Attorney and Executive Director of the Maine Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Tina Heather Nadeau is a native of Madawaska, Maine, who received her BA Bowdoin College and her JD at the University of Maine School of Law. As a law student, Tina served as a staff member and later as editor-in-chief of The Maine Law Review. After completing law school, Tina clerked for the Honorable Justice Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Tina joined Daniel G. Lilley Law Offices in 2011, where she represented clients in civil matters including medical and legal malpractice and civil rights. Tina also maintained an extensive and varied criminal practice. In 2015, Tina opened her own solo practice in Portland, Maine, to focus on her true passions: criminal defense and appellate practice. Since that time, Tina has represented hundreds of people charged with everything from misdemeanors to murder. Tina has earned a reputation as a tenacious litigator who does not back down from a fight, particularly when her clients’ liberty and livelihoods are at stake. Each year since 2013, Tina has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in criminal defense. In 2020 she was recognized with the Maine Equal Justice Hero award. In 2019, she was awarded the New England Educational Opportunity Association’s Achiever Award. In addition to her private practice, Tina served as Board President for Maine Equal Justice until 2020 and has worked as the Executive Director of the Maine Association of criminal Defense Lawyers since November 2017. She has served on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court’s Advisory Committee on the Rules of Appellate Procedure. Tina argues regularly before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and has litigated dozens of criminal appeals. Tina has also worked on several post-conviction review matters. She accepts appointments from the Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services. She also engages with private clients in criminal matters.
