Visiting Artist: Masterclass with Rachel Childers
Join us for an afternoon masterclass with Rachel Childers.
Rachel Childers, a Michigan native, has been Second Horn of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 2011, holding the John P. II and Nancy S. Eustis chair. Notably, she is the first female member of the BSO brass section. Prior to joining the BSO, Rachel served as Acting Assistant Principal/Utility Horn with the Colorado Symphony and performed with various California ensembles.
Rachel earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan, studying with Søren Hermansson, and completed an Artist Diploma at the Colburn School under David Jolley and David Krehbiel.
An advocate for music education, Rachel works closely with the BSO’s Education Department, contributing to initiatives like “BSO In Residence” in Jamaica Plain, MA, and performing programs for young audiences. She is currently on faculty at the New England Conservatory.
