A workshop with Dr. Larissa Malone and Dr. Qiana Lachaud
Wednesday, February 15th | 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. ET
How does faith encourage engagement in social justice? Conversely, how are social justice commitments related to spiritual responsibility? This workshop will create space to consider the interconnectedness between race and faith through the utilization of the tenets of the emerging theory, FaithCrit. In particular, attendees will consider the meaning of acknowledging a religio-spiritual identity. Through examining the relationship between religio-spiritual beliefs and justice, attendees will critically explore the ways in which spiritual practices may reinforce inequality or compel action for social justice. In this way, this workshop will provide an opportunity to reimagine how we bridge race and faith to ensure that we are actualizing the full potential of love, healing, and social action in our daily praxis.
