The College of Science, Technology, and Health (CSTH) is represented across all 3 campuses of Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston-Auburn, and we have online offerings, too. CSTH units include the departments of Biology; Chemistry; Computer Science; Engineering; Environmental Science and Policy; Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences; Linguistics; Mathematics and Statistics; Occupational Therapy; Physics; Psychology; and Technology; plus the School of Nursing. These faculty and staff offer a range of undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, minors, and certificates across the STEM and health fields. In addition, we host the Army ROTC program, the Dubyak Center for Digital Sciences and Innovation, and STEM Outreach and Services, which includes the Southworth Planetarium.
Faculty and staff work closely with students in the traditional classroom, lab, and clinical settings. We also engage in transformative experiences for students through independent research projects, capstones, and internships with community partners.
A defining moment of my career was taking a work study job as a lab assistant in a population genetics lab at Miami University (Ohio). Before then, I never knew about career opportunities in research and teaching at the college level, and it got me started on a path that I’ve never regretted. I encourage you to reach out to faculty in programs that interest you. Ask them about their work (faculty love to talk about their research!) and see how you might fit in. Make the most of your time here! Please feel free to contact me to learn more.
