COS 398 Professional Ethics and Social Impact of Computing

Tiffany Rad is the CEO and co-founder of Anatrope, Inc., a company that develops wireless automotive technologies for the security and data analytics industries. Prior to founding Anatrope, she served as Manager of Operational Security for Embedded Systems at Cisco, where her work focused on IoT and vehicle security research. Before joining Cisco, she was a cybersecurity researcher at Battelle Institute’s Center for Advanced Vehicle Engineering (CAVE), and earlier in her career, she was a member of Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT), conducting malware research.

She has been an Adjunct Professor in the computer science department at the University of Southern Maine’s Portland campus since 2004. Her independent research was ranked #4 in Bloomberg’s “Top 10 White Hat Hacks,” and she is a contributor to the book Security in 2020. She was also featured in the 2019 book Women Know Cyber: 100 Fascinating Females Fighting Cybercrime. In addition, her work has been highlighted in popular media, including the Discovery Channel documentary The Real Story: Live Free or Die Hard (2013) and the USA Network series Mr. Robot, where her SCADA/ICS research was featured in the Season One episode “Brave Traveler.”

Outside academia and industry, Tiffany surfs, snowboards, and writes an adventure-sports and travel blog under a pseudonym.
