Background
As a teacher and teacher educator, I have worked in schools in New York City, Los Angeles, rural Arkansas, Houston, Portland, Westbrook, and currently Biddeford and SAD 6. I am fascinated by the possibilities of various educational settings having attended as a student Montessori pre-school and a public magnet high school now recognized as an Expeditionary Learning School. As an educator, I have taught high school special education, been a school director, taught with Hurricane Island Outward Bound, The Boston Children’s Museum, and was director of a ropes course at summer camps.
Teaching Perspective
My passion is helping ensure teachers are well prepared for the possibilities and challenges of public school teaching. I am professionally fascinated by the demographic and technological changes in our society and the opportunities these create for schools. My teaching goal is to help interns build a foundation for professional lives that are rich in learning, inquiry, and the joy of watching children learn.
Personal Side
Personally, I am the proud mama of two young adult daughters. I enjoy sharing my love of the outdoors and my daily commitment to making a better world for them to be part of.
