Rosa King, MEd

Rosa King, M.Ed., Doctoral Candidate, is the Director of Staff Development for Portland Public Schools, where she leads districtwide work in educator development, professional learning, certification, mentoring, and apprenticeship pathways.

With more than a decade of experience in secondary and adult education, Rosa has taught English Language Arts, AP Literature and Composition, and HiSET/GED preparation in Massachusetts. She has also served as an Assistant Principal, supporting both educator development and student achievement. Through her work with the PRPIL program and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Rosa has supported more than 250 educators in developing professional portfolios toward initial licensure.

Rosa is completing her Doctor of Education in winter 2027. Her dissertation research compares traditional coursework-based educator preparation with apprenticeship-based pathways for adult learners entering the education field. Her work has been recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the College Board for exceptional student performance on AP and MCAS assessments, and she was featured in Worcester Magazine for her classroom poetry initiatives.

Beyond her work in education and leadership, Rosa is currently writing her first novel, extending her lifelong passion for storytelling into fiction.
