Become a USM Aspirations Scholar

Students who have taken Early College courses at any University of Maine System institution and earned a final grade of C or better may be offered direct admission to USM. This means you’re in – no need for a formal application!

Direct admissions letters are sent to eligible students in the early fall of their senior year. Early College students who accept their admissions offer join their cohort of USM Aspirations Scholars.

All USM Aspirations Scholars are invited to participate in a Husky Prep Session – a one-on-one meeting with USM’s Senior Associate Director of Early College Success. During this meeting, students receive individualized guidance to help them navigate the transition from high school to college. Topics of conversation may include…

  • Advising on spring-semester Early College course options to ensure alignment with your future USM degree requirements.
  • Review of past dual-enrollment/transfer credits and how they apply to your major, minor, and/or university core curriculum.
  • Hopes and goals for your first year of college – what interests you beyond academics.
  • Direct connections with relevant offices and people on campus (i.e. TRIO, Athletics, Financial Aid, Advising, Faculty, etc.)
  • paw print Resources, support systems, and other opportunities available to USM students.
  • Any questions or concerns you have about your next steps. This meeting is meant to help YOU!

Early College seniors – after you submit your deposit, check your e-mail from Emma Roose for an invitation to your Husky Prep appointment!
