Exercise Science

The University of Southern Maine’s Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES). The American College of Sports Medicine is a sponsoring organization of the CoAES. We are the only program in the state of Maine that has achieved this distinction. Protect your educational investment by attending a CAAHEP Accredited Program!

Health Sciences

The Health Sciences prepare students for a variety of health-oriented professions: athletic training, medicine, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, public health, and health care administration are just a few examples! While postgraduate study is often required for careers in these professions, crucial foundational skills are gained in preparation for your next steps.

Recreation and Leisure Studies

Recreation and Leisure Studies – including Therapeutic Recreation – prepare students to provide wellness and health care services with all populations and abilities, to develop and maintain leisure lifestyles within the domains of wellness: cognitive, physical, emotional, social, environmental, and spiritual.
