Dr. Sharon Timberlake, B.A. Colby College; M.A. and Ph.D. Muskie School of Public Service, teaches in the Leadership and Organizational Studies Program.  Her courses include Organizational Theory, Leadership, Diversity in the Workplace, Global Ethics and Managing Organizational Change and Cultural Contents among others. Her research and publications have focused on collaboration, particularly among municipalities in response to the arrival of newcomer populations and issues related to gender and the workplace.  Prior to joining the academic community at LAC, Dr. Timberlake worked for the Maine Ethics Commission and for over twenty years with the Maine Department of Labor focusing on economic development, migrant labor, low income, youth and older worker programs, and employment and training. She later served the Director of Dislocated Worker Programs for a nonprofit agency in Washington, DC and as the Executive Director of a social service agency in Portland that provided childcare for young low-income families, outdoor adventure-based counseling for at-risk youth and a drop-in center for homeless teens.
