Mail Services FAQ

These are the most asked questions from incoming resident students.

For Gorham Campus mail and packages, the mailing address will be:

Packages received via USM Mail Services will be scanned in and an automatic email notification will be sent to the student. Please do not come to retrieve a package until you receive the notification from USM Mail Services. Many times, a carrier will send a notification that a package was delivered, which happens before we physically receive it, or before we’ve had a chance to process it through our system.

USPS mail/letters will be sorted into mailboxes. Upper Class Hall and Portland Commons will have mailboxes in the building for residents. All other resident students will be assigned a mail box by Mail Services, located in the basement of Upton Hall, next to Card Services and across from the Dining Hall.

The Gorham campus has a package locker option for after-hours pickups. If you cannot make it to Mail Services to pick up your package when we are open, simply reply to the auto-notification that you would like to request that your package be placed in a package locker.

Package lockers coming soon for Portland Commons residents!

Package lockers are limited and reserved for the times a resident student is unable to get to Mail Services during operating hours.

Mail Services is not a full service hub. We will be happy to accept stamped letters and packages with prepaid shipping labels.

Gorham Mail Services is located in the lowest level of Upton Hastings Hall. We are next door to Card Services. Portland Mail Services is located in the Back Side of Sullivan Gym, at the Durham Street entrance.

We are open Monday – Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm. Please note hours may fluctuate based on staffing.

We are closed all holidays that the University of Southern Maine students observe and one that classes continue when we’re closed.
