The Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine, in collaboration with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, will present a master class with PSO Music Director Eckart Preu, featuring graduate students in choral, wind, and orchestral conducting. The event will be held in Corthell Concert Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended.
W.A. Mozart’s (1756-91) Ave verum corpus, K. 618 will be conducted by Drew Albert, student of Nicolás Alberto Dosman, director of choral studies. Peer Gynt, Suite No. 1, Op. 46, Morgenstimmung (Morning Mood) by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) will be conducted by Hailey Francoeur, a student of Will Kinne, director of bands. Grieg’s Tanz in der Halle des Bergkönigs (In the Hall of the Mountain King) will be conducted by Jeff Mosher, student of Robert Lehmann, orchestra and string studies. The Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra will perform the music.
