Educational outreach is at the heart of the OML’s mission. We conduct in-person field trips and tours at the OML, and our Educational Outreach team is also available to visit classrooms. In addition, we offer engaging live remote-learning programs and workshops, as well as map kits educators can borrow and utilize at their convenience. Most of our dynamic and hands-on lessons can be transported and presented at schools, clubs, after-school programs, and camps in Maine and beyond.

Teachers are encouraged to choose from a variety of topics and available lesson plans that fit into their current curriculum. Many of our Visit Themes are designed to complement the social studies curriculum standards for Maine’s intermediate, middle, and high school grades.  We are also happy to customize our lessons to individual classroom needs.
