This course will teach students to examine, diagnose and formulate a plan of care for musculoskeletal injuries of the upper extremity and thoracic and cervical spine. Examination techniques include obtaining a past medical history, functional assessment, palpation, joint range of motion, soft tissue integrity, selective tissue testing, neurological and vascular assessment. This course presents knowledge and evaluation skills for non-orthopedic illnesses and injuries. Topics may include cardiac and respiratory conditions, diagnostic and laboratory testing, pharmacology, traumatic brain injury, behavioral health conditions, and other general medical conditions.
