The Professional Development Center (PDC) is the in-service agent of the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) of the University of Southern Maine. We strive to meet the unique professional development needs of the educational community. Our mission is to provide innovative and sustained professional development that enables PK-12 educators and school communities to serve the needs of their students.
Cohort Programs
Bring USM courses and programs onsite to your school district or organization
- The PDC offers a unique opportunity for school districts and organizations to learn together by creating cohorts.
- In partnership with schools and organizations and USM faculty, we can deliver any School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) graduate degree and certificate program at your school district site OR we will work with you to design a customized program.
Course Design
Can’t find an existing course or program that fits your needs? Design your own!
- We can work with you to design and administer new graduate courses. To start the process of proposing a new course, contact pdc@maine.edu for more information.
Workshops
Attend or create workshops through the PDC
- We host standalone workshops and institutes, often co-sponsored by or in collaboration with other organizations. Contact us at pdc@maine.edu if you would like to collaborate.
- We also review proposals and approve Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for programs serving educators according to national CEU standards. To apply for CEUs for your program/workshop, please visit our CEUs page.
