The USM School of Business currently offers 3 fully online programs in Marketing, Business Analytics and Operations and Supply Chain Management.

The Business Analytics major (15 credits) prepares Business Administration students for a range of management analyst positions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that management analysts have a much faster than average job outlook through 2024 with a 14% growth rate. McKinsey Global Institute reports that the United States alone faces a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people with deep analytical skills as well as 1.5 million managers and analysts to analyze big data and make decisions based on their findings.

The major is designed to teach the theoretical and practical aspects of Business Analytics through a curriculum focused on the theoretical, technical, and communication components required in the business analytics field. The goal of the major is to educate students who can successfully fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the rapidly growing field related to business analytics. Through the curriculum, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to obtain employment as business analysts.

The Marketing major (15 credits) prepares business administration students for a wide range of marketing and management careers ranging from client services to new product development, social media management, and brand management. Separate courses are offered in career areas such as retailing, advertising, digital marketing, sales, and sport marketing. Courses are taught using the experiential learning model and students acquire a solid grasp of marketing concepts and practices along with a comprehensive understanding of business. Most important, the program fosters the development of professional, analytical, and problem solving skills crucial for career success. Students are encouraged to further develop skills by taking the applied courses listed below and being active in student organizations such as the School’s Student Marketing Association (SMA).

The Operations and Supply Chain Management major (15 credits) prepares Business Administration students for a range of supply chain positions. In today’s globalized marketplace, businesses rely on efficient operations and robust supply chain strategies to maintain their competitiveness. By selecting this major, you will: acquire the expertise to design, implement, and oversee efficient supply chains; cultivate critical thinking skills essential for resolving real-world challenges in procurement, production, distribution, and logistics; gain insight into the intricacies of international trade, sourcing, and distribution on a global scale; embrace the latest technological advancements. including data analytics, to revolutionize supply chain processes, and be prepared for diverse roles. The Operations and Supply Chain Management coursework provides the students with the skills to be successful in a variety of positions including supply chain analyst, operations manager, logistics coordinator, procurement specialist. inventory planner, manufacturing supervisor, distribution manager, and consultant operations strategy.
