Career Options
Our degree and certificate programs are designed for:
- Pre-service teachers: You can earn your initial special education certification.
- Practicing teachers: You can choose to focus on effective instruction through an accelerated program with 7-week classes or in a flexible option in 15-week classes.

Special Education courses are taught in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Some courses are offered every semester, while others are offered only in certain semesters or alternating years. The following table lists the courses for the Advanced Pathway (4+1) program and preservice M.S. – Certification, as well as the semester(s) when offered. Courses that are part of the Accelerated Master of Science in Special Education with a Concentration in Effective Instruction and Assessment for Students with Suspected and Identified Disabilities are offered in 7-week online sessions and follow a different schedule.
