Tourism & Hospitality Student Group, 2024 – 2025

We hope your semester is off to an amazing start! We’re thrilled to invite you to the Tourism and Hospitality Student Group Meeting this Friday, September 13th, from 12-1 PM via Zoom. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow TAH majors, discover our group’s goals, and find out how you can get involved—whether you just want to be part of a fun group (we will do activities and excursions!) or if you want to step into a leadership role and help plan these fun travel-themed events!

Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android: https://maine.zoom.us/j/81221699668?pwd=zLOz5wVU3tbv8NOZls96XsmbEktjtk.1

Password: 097164

You’ll have the chance to network with students across all classes, learn more about the field, and hear about upcoming opportunities within the program, and learn about the Eta Sigma Delta TAH honors society. Joining the group is simple and low-pressure. Just show up! We meet just once a month to brainstorm ideas, set goals, and collaborate, making it easy to participate without adding to your busy schedule.

Being part of the group can also boost your résumé and help you gain valuable leadership experience, if that’s something you’re aiming for. Whether you’re interested in leading or just want to be part of the community, we’d love to see you this Friday! And if you can’t make it but still want to be involved, just reach out—I’ll make sure to keep you in the loop about future meetings and opportunities.

If you have any questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to let us know. We can’t wait to see you Friday at noon! Feel free to reach out to Ellie Perry, ESD/TAH Group President, at ellie.perry@maine.edu.

“A Taste of Two Worlds” Cookbook

In a notable celebration of culinary heritage and cultural exchange, the recently published cookbook “A Taste of Two Worlds: Stories + Recipes from Greenland and Maine” has achieved global recognition at the Gourmand Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  The book is a collaborative effort by students from the University of Southern Maine Tourism & Hospitality program, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Wabanaki Public Health, Arctic Education Alliance, Inuili Food College in Greenland, and other industry partners. Through a series of curated recipes, the book fosters a deeper understanding of indigenous foodways and underscores the importance of food in cultural preservation and dialogue. Muskie School faculty Dr. Tracy Michaud along with her partners lead this project for the Arctic Education Alliance.   For more information, please visit here and read this Bangor Daily News article, along with this WGME article and this article from Edible Maine.

The University of Southern Maine – Tourism and Hospitality Program invites you to celebrate the awarding of our student cookbook “Best in the World” at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Rescheduled date: Wednesday, January 17, 10-11 a.m., Abromson Hall 109

Meet students, faculty, and industry partners involved in the project. Celebrate as they receive their awards. Try some samples from the cookbook. Get a copy for yourself!
