Portland's Old Port

Three Vibrant Campuses

Explore our three dynamic campuses, where you'll have exciting opportunities to get involved in the intellectual, economic, and cultural life of our surrounding communities. Our expansive residential campus in Gorham is the hub of undergraduate life and is closely connected via shuttle to our lively urban campus in Portland, Maine’s largest city, and the region’s economic and cultural capital. Our friendly, close-knit Lewiston campus is accessible, too, and engaged with the surrounding communities of Central Maine.

Transferring Credit from Our Partner Institutions

We’re proud of our partnerships with the Maine Community College System, the University of Maine System, and other New England-based schools. Together, we’ve streamlined the process for students to transfer their credits to USM. We’ve also done the work of deciphering how your prior coursework matches our own courses, and have mapped a way through the classes that remain for you to achieve your bachelor’s degree.

Veterans Services at USM

Services for Veterans and Their Families

Take advantage of Veterans Services at USM, a military-friendly campus. We are proud to support veterans, servicemembers, and their families, who are accessing Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits (the GI Bill). The Veterans Services office can help you navigate the benefits process and make a successful transition from the military to the classroom community.

Meet our Accomplished USM Faculty

Connect with dedicated professors who are highly accomplished in their fields and actively engaged in our communities. USM faculty provide students with valuable learning opportunities, including internships, research, and service learning projects throughout the southern Maine region. As teachers, mentors, and advisors, they will work with you and challenge you to reach your potential.
