Three Vibrant Campuses

Our university is a welcoming community of nearly 8,000 students — representing 44 states and 22 countries — spread among three dynamic campuses. Our lively, urban campus in Portland — Maine’s largest city and the region’s economic and cultural capital — is connected via the METRO Husky Line to our expansive, residential campus in Gorham, where students can choose a Living Learning Community that fits their lifestyle. Our close-knit Lewiston campus in Central Maine offers a small college atmosphere with lots of service-learning opportunities in the surrounding communities.

Transferring Credit from Our Partner Institutions

We’re proud of our partnerships with the Maine Community College System, the University of Maine System, and other New England-based schools. Together, we’ve streamlined the process for students to transfer their credits to USM. We’ve also done the work of deciphering how your prior coursework matches our own courses, and have mapped a way through the classes that remain for you to achieve your bachelor’s degree.

Support for Veterans and Their Families

As a military-friendly campus, we are proud to support veterans, service members, and their families. Veterans Services can help you navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits (the GI Bill) process. Our Veterans Upward Bound program offers eligible veterans individualized assistance to make a successful transition from the military to the classroom.

Meet Our Accomplished Faculty

Our faculty provide students with valuable learning opportunities, including internships, research, and service learning projects throughout the southern Maine region.
