Veterans Upward Bound offers free post-high school educational workshops in Math, English, and Science. These courses assemble a small group of veterans looking for similar refresher material. The curriculum, designed by the instructor, is to build not only your level of comfort with the material but also to build your confidence as a student.

The refresher courses are free for eligible veteran participants and are non-credit bearing. Classes are taught virtually by one of our VUB teachers. Class materials are provided.

Refresher Course Registration

We offer a math refresher course that is designed to prepare students for their first college math class. The math refresher course is free for eligible veteran participants and is non-credit bearing. The course will be taught virtually for about one hour per week and will run for five weeks. We will provide and send out all necessary class materials.

Dates: April 3rd – May 8th, 2024, weekly on Wednesdays

Time: 5:30 – 6:30 PM

The English composition refresher course is designed to prepare students with the literary and writing skills needed for their first English college class. This course is free for eligible veteran participants and is non-credit bearing. The course will be taught virtually for about one hour per week and will run for five weeks. We will provide and send out all necessary class materials.

Dates: April 2nd – April 30th, weekly on Tuesdays

Time: 6 – 7PM

We offer a science refresher course that is designed to prepare students for their first science college class. In this course, we cover the scientific method, conversions of units, how to conduct research, and how to vet sources. This course is free for eligible veteran participants and is non-credit bearing. The course will be taught virtually for about one hour per week and will run for five weeks. We will provide and send out all necessary class materials.
