Real-world experience

We offer internships and service-learning opportunities in diverse fields, including community relations, marketing, broadcasting, strategic advocacy, media writing, management, government, advertising social services, education, and counseling.

You’ll have 24/7 access to our production lab, which contains a dedicated professional television studio as well as digital audio and video editing facilities, film cameras, and lighting and sound equipment.

Our alumni work in both the public and private sectors. Graduates have acquired positions at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, MEMIC, Gulf of Maine Research Center, Unum, IDEXX, New York Yankees, Martin’s Health Point Care, Portland Sea Dogs, and the Council on International Educational Exchange.

Program requirements

Our program embraces a liberal arts philosophy and emphasizes critical thinking. You’ll examine communication theories and practices, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, organization, intercultural, gender and family, and mass media.

Dedicated faculty

Our faculty have extensive research and scholarship experience. They regularly present their research at conferences that include the National Communication Association, the Media Ecology Association, Eastern Communication Association, and Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender.
