Real-world experience

We offer internships and service-learning opportunities that allow you to earn academic credit while gaining real-world experience working with media professionals in a range of commercial and non-commercial organizations.

Program requirements

The goal of our program is to prepare literate, capable, and responsible media professionals. With a curriculum that emphasizes theory and practice, the media studies major challenges you to analyze and practice the creation, dissemination, utilization, and evaluation of mediated messages.

Production lab

You’ll have 24/7 access to our production lab, which contains a professional television studio as well as digital audio and video editing facilities, film cameras, and lighting and sound equipment.

Considering transferring to USM?

Capstone course

As a capstone project, you’ll collaborate with a nonprofit organization to create a significant media project that integrates the skills and experiences developed during your tenure.
