New construction on our Portland campus

Located within walking and biking distance to the heart of downtown Portland, our new Passive House residence hall and eco-conscious student center will open in 2023. You’ll have access to spacious study areas, a café, our Career & Employment Hub, the University Store, and much more. Plus, undergraduate students who choose to live on-campus during your first two years at USM, you’ll have priority access to Portland Commons housing for our Fall 2023 term.

While our in-person visits and campus tours are limited, there are still many dynamic opportunities for you to learn about our thriving academic community from home. Attend an informational webinar about our university or a specific academic program, schedule a one-on-one video chat with a current student or an admissions counselor, and more. Meet Our Team

Our friendly and welcoming Admissions Counselors represent specific high schools and towns in your state (or country) to offer you a personalized admissions experience. If you have questions or need assistance during your application process, your counselor is happy to help! We will connect with you based on your communication preference, be it video chat, email, phone, or text.

Undergraduate

We are committed to academic quality that is affordable, flexible, and meaningful. Choose from a broad spectrum of programs, with both on-campus and online options. Our three campuses are located at the heart of Maine's most vibrant region, creating exciting opportunities for community engagement, including internships, service learning, and undergraduate research.

Graduate

Our graduate programs are designed to be flexible and highly relevant to the economic, health, and civic needs of our region and the communities we serve. We offer master's and doctoral degree programs, as well as certificates of advanced study (post-master's) and graduate certificates (post-baccalaureate), some of which are offered completely online.
