One of Advising’s jobs is to share resources with our students so that you are aware of the tools and supports available to you at USM as you work toward your degree. Below are some of the tools, people, and information that we find ourselves sharing most often with students.

Who Do I See for Advising?

  • USM utilizes a collaborative Advising Partnership model to best serve our students.
  • Your Professional Advisor is your primary advisor through your sophomore year (0-53 credits)
  • Your Faculty Advisor is a professor in your major and is your primary advisor after reaching 54 credits/junior status.
  • Check out our Junior and Senior Transition Guide for helpful information as you transition to your Faculty Advisor.

Newly Admitted Students

  • The Office of Orientation and Transitional Programs is here to help you. They provide step-by-step instructions to help you move through the process.
