Privacy: Your visits to us are private and confidential. None of your health or counseling information will be shared or your records released without your written consent except as required/allowed by law.
Billing and Insurance:
- Students coming in for mental health-related visits will be asked to provide us with a copy of their health insurance card. Insurance will be billed for each clinical appointment. Students who have no insurance, are underinsured, or have other financial constraints will not be denied services. Counseling Services offers free care for students who qualify. Please contact the office for more information.
- Insurance plans that are accepted: Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Community Health Options, Harvard Pilgrim, MaineCare, TriCare, and United. We recommend students contact their insurance company directly to confirm mental health counseling is covered under their plan and find out about any deductibles or expected copays.
- Students being seen by our off-campus contracted psychiatry practice for psychiatric evaluation and medication management may be charged a one-time $30 fee, depending on their payment arrangements, that can be paid online. Click here to access our payment portal. Students seeing our in-house psychiatric nurse practitioner will have their insurance billed for each appointment unless they qualify for free care. Please contact the office for more information.
Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP): The University of Maine System’s seven campuses offer a voluntary insurance plan. Click here for more information.
Immunization Compliance: Eligible students are required to comply with state law and provide proof of their immunity for specified vaccine preventable diseases.
