The University of Southern Maine is continually evaluating how people commute to campus and their parking needs. This evaluation includes motor vehicles, motorcycles, buses, bicycles, walking trips and more. These evaluations inform the University’s Transportation Demand Management Plan, which was first published in 2020 and continues to evolve. The goals of the plan are multi-fold, and include reducing the cost of travel for students, staff & faculty, providing greater access to a range of transportation options, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in pursuit of attaining carbon neutrality by the year 2040.
